NEW UTRECHT AVENUE, Borough Park

Forgotten New York -

No, it’s not what you think, this isn’t really “nude” Utrecht, and I didn’t stumble on a Spencer Tunick (link NSFW) tableau when out adventuring. I was actually on my way to Church Avenue (the results of which can be seen here) when I decided to indulge a fascination of mine for many years: the three [...]

BUS STOP, East New York

Forgotten New York -

You never know what strange creatures will show up under elevated trains. Here on a pillar supporting the BMT Broadway Brooklyn line (J train) on East New York Avenue at Broadway is a 1960s-era bus stop sign, depicting a General Motors “fishbowl” bus with its, for the time, ge-normous glass window in front. The Fishbowls [...]

Here’s a trio of well-preserved, 19.5 feet wide Federal style townhouses on the west side of MacDougal Street north of West 3rd and adjacent to the Provincetown Playhouse. This part of Greenwich Village was settled in the 1820s after a cholera epidemic downtown forced many residents to move uptown. There was already a potters’ field [...]

The view of the concrete Richmond Hill trestle from Hillside Avenue lets us see one of the Long Island Rail Road’s more intriguing relics: the Keystone. The LIRR was run under the auspices of the now-defunct Pennsylvania Railroad from 1900 to 1949, and in those years, the LIRR signage adopted the “Pennsy” keystone symbol, since [...]

The Coca-Cola script logo is virtually unchanged for over 110 years — there are variances in the stroke and swash widths in the lettering but that’s about it. 2016 National President-Dr. Amarilis Jacobo

Picture1“It is my commitment to you as a member to be your voice and partner.”

Saludos Miembros y Amigos. Greetings Members and Friends.

I am truly honored and blessed to have been elected as National President and I look forward to a term focused on service and advocacy.  During the up coming year it is my commitment to you as a member to be your voice and partner.

The Hispanic Dental Association continues to grow and build on strong foundations and community relationships.  We could not provide the amount of free service nationally and internationally without the continued commitment of you, our member, and the financial support of our partners and sponsors.

As a tax exempt educational and charitable association we represent all members of the oral health team on the issues of Oral Health and efforts focused on the elimination of Oral health disparities in the Hispanic Community.

Additionally, our 40 chapters are at the core of our foundation and they will continue to be how we are represented and stay active in communities across the United States. Being engaged in communities and advocating for the importance of oral health is a team effort and ALL members of the oral health team have a seat and a role with HDA.

I look forward to working with you in 2016

Gracias.
